Westerville is full of charm, history, and local spots that people outside the area don’t always know about. Here are some of my favorite hidden gems—plus a look at what’s new and coming soon.
Inniswood Metro Gardens
Tucked off Hempstead Road, this park feels like a private garden retreat. It’s quiet, walkable, and a local favorite for everything from morning walks to family photos.
Uptown Westerville
This area has grown into a real destination. Java Central is a great local coffee shop, and the Westerville Saturday Farmers Market draws a big crowd from spring to fall. Public art pops up in the form of murals, sculptures, and painted utility boxes—just keep your eyes open.
Hoover Reservoir
Whether you're into kayaking, fishing, or evening walks, Hoover offers a peaceful escape right in town. Great for sunset views and low-key outdoor time.
Highlands Park Aquatic Center
If you’re a resident, this is a hidden gem during summer. It’s family-friendly, well-kept, and way more affordable than many private pool options.
New & Coming Soon in Westerville
Smash Park
Set to open in 2025 near Polaris Parkway and Cleveland Avenue, this 45,000-square-foot entertainment space will include pickleball, duckpin bowling, axe throwing, karaoke rooms, a rooftop bar, and more. Perfect for date nights or group outings.
P.O. Box 21 – A Speakeasy Experience
Under High Bank Distillery in Uptown, this speakeasy nods to Westerville’s prohibition-era history. The vibe is cozy, upscale, and ideal for a night out.
No Soliciting (Coming Soon)
This private speakeasy is known for its sleek, moody atmosphere and exclusive membership model. It’s coming to Westerville soon and will be a hotspot for craft cocktails and elevated nights out.
Ampersand Ramen
Opening soon at 32 W College Ave, this local favorite brings bold, flavorful ramen and donburi bowls to Uptown. A great addition to Westerville’s food scene.
Begin Café (Coming Spring 2025)
Located on E. Main Street in Uptown, Begin Café will serve coffee, pastries, and fresh baked breads in a welcoming, community-style atmosphere. Owned by local influencers Mike and Kayla Tompkins.
Edge Adventure Park (Coming 2025)
A 10-acre outdoor adventure park being developed in Westerville, with ropes courses, zip-lining, kayaking, tree swings, fire pits, and more. Perfect for active families or weekend fun.
High Bank Distillery – Uptown Westerville
Recently opened in the old U.S. Post Office building, this restaurant, bar, and retail space blends history with modern design. A speakeasy is also planned below the space.
Chick-fil-A – Polaris Parkway (Coming 2025)
This new location will offer indoor and patio seating and easy access off Polaris Parkway. A solid lunch or dinner option for residents nearby.
Fox in the Snow Café
While not in Uptown just yet, their nearby New Albany location is worth the short drive for a cozy coffee break or brunch with friends.
Westerville continues to grow, blending small-town charm with exciting new spots. Whether you're new to the area or a longtime local, there’s always something worth exploring.
